This blog-post if to show and share my appreciation of the artist KiD CuDi. He is a true artist that produces great thought-provoking music in my opinion. Not as much as others but for a rapper of his kind, he has some kind of power that actually makes your mind work in a different way. It is hard to explain in words but his music style is something different. He’s unique and exceptionally talented. Unfortunately, not many people know of his work in this context. In fact I was once the same and disregarded him.

Kid Cudi, also known as Mr. Rager and Mr. Solo Dolo as well as The Man on the Moon amongst many other things.

So how did I end up becoming a Cudder or a Rager… or whatever it is his fanbase in known as. To be honest, Kid Cudi is one of those artists that have a Cult Following. Some claim he is over-rated, others think he is Godly. I just love his music for the way it makes me think and feel.

His type of music is often known as stoner rap, because apparently its best listened to when you’re stoned. I’ve never got high in my life and yet this music makes me feel as such. I mean, what Cudi does is something different. I feel that those that don’t really understand it or feel it can’t relate to it. Others like me can and we appreciate it.

At first, I thought he was just some dance artist who acted like a clown after I listened to Day and Night; the remixed Crookers version.

Now don’t get me wrong, it was a great dance track but that’s all I thought of it. The video was a bit saucy with a lot of eye candy. Took away the meaning behind the lyrics and gave it the typical ‘dance’ theme to it. So yeah, wasn’t a huge fan… That was until I heard Cudi’s own version of it.

The pacing, the visuals, the tone in his voice, the music all combined with the lyrics in this format gave me a whole different feel and appreciation for the song.

It showed his creativity and wild imagination in his day to day life. I think the track actually relates to Sleeping Geeks. Those that like to ‘free their minds at night’.

For me. He is not just a singer and rapper but an artist. What he creates isn’t just music but its a form of Art.

So yeah check it out and let me know what you think of the Kid named Cudi!

Sometimes it takes a while for him to grow on you but once he does, he never lets go.

This was just a taster but there shall be another song that will be officially titled SONG of the WEEK that will be shared with you by yours truly Desperado. I hope you will like it because I sure as hell do.
