I think maybe it was her lame sense of adventure at the begining haha. Dont get me wrong, i liked her by the end of the film.

Ah, gotcha.
I think I was just so entranced by the animation that, at least the first time or two I saw it, I actually paid little attention to her. This was the first Miyazaki film I saw. She did seem to have the Bella-effect on me: though she’s our main character, she’s the least interesting to me.
